How can artistic practice serve as a method for reclaiming agency in women’s sexually traumatised bodies, through an autoethnographic exploration of personal experience?

”Their mouths watering, anticipation dripping down their chins and their forks and knives clenched excitedly. They are waiting. Hearts racing. Legs shaking in anticipation. Their victim falls onto their plate, and they devour her quickly, easily, and you will find no humanity in their eyes. They get up, leave their table dirty, and discard their chairs. Fat Monster, 2023, Old bedsheets, expanding foam and stuffing, 195cm x 60cm

Fat Monster aimed to capture the emotion of feeling that when you feel you are fat, we believe that we are Fat Monsters taking up to much space in society. Our bodies disgusting lumps of flesh. Using expanding foam, I created custom fat rolls, that stack on top of each other. With a height of 6’5 and as wide as possible to reclaim space. I stuffed them with fluff from old pillows and covered them with old yellowed discarded bedsheets.

Liquid Wave Toy, 2025,

From the moment feet touch the sand, pollution is there. Taking the time to look at the surface, one will start to see foils from bottles, tiny bits of plastic, band aids and cigarette butts.

Sydney is known for its golden shores, crystal clear waters and the lifestyle of ‘Beach’. People travel all around the world to be a part of it. Yet rubbish stays day after day, slowly getting swept into the ocean and traveling across the sea. No matter how far you swim out, once you look under the water, you will find the trash left behind now devastating the eco-system.

Liquid Wave Paperweight aims to challenge the Beach Culture in Sydney. Using the design of the iconic child’s toys that are often found in places that educate about the ocean, this artwork aims to show the exploitative relationship we have with Beach Culture. Bring what is below the surface to the forefront.
